Call for Submissions

FIRST CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The IAAE is proud to present a first call for submissions for ICAE 2018 to be held in Vancouver, Canada, July 28-August 2, 2018. Note that the website for submissions will open in Fall 2017: the purpose of this First Call is to encourage members of IAAE to plan on attending and presenting their work, and to design the most effective contributions. There are three types of submissions (Contributed Papers, Organized Symposia and Pre-Conference Workshops), each with their own requirements. In addition, delegate may be eligible for various prizes.

CONTRIBUTED PAPERS (ORAL AND VISUAL)

Note that there will be a single submission and reviewing system for all Contributed Papers, whether they result in Oral or Visual presentation. We are planning to accommodate visual presentations in an electronic format rather than the traditional poster sessions. This will make it easier to present, it will allow more presentations, and it will obviate the need to carry a poster to the Conference.

The Contributed Paper sessions require submission of a full paper suitable for subsequent submission to a journal and all manuscripts should be anonymous. A comprehensive paper submission guideline will be available in due course.

Competitive travel grants covering part of the cost of attending the conference may be available to needy cases, especially from low-income countries. There will be an opportunity to apply for these grants during the paper submission process.

Authors will be asked to indicate whether they would like their paper to be considered for the Uma Lele prize on gender, and/ord for the TW Schultz prize for best Contributed Paper (Oral) and/or the Nils Westermark prize for the Best Contributed Paper (Visual). Details on these awards will be provided at a later stage.

ORGANIZED SYMPOSIA

Organized Symposia provide more flexibility than is available with Contributed Papers. Proposals should include presentations that explore different, complementary aspects of a particular topic. Proposals that involve discussants with different points of view will be of particular interest. We are keen to see proposals that involve serious analysis of new, exciting and important topics.

PRE- CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS

Spaces on the program are limited for Pre- Conference Workshops. Each Workshop organizer will be requested to prepare a proposal of a maximum of two pages summarizing the content of the proposal.
